Dr. Omkar Prasad Baidya (born December 3, 1984) is an Indian physician, philosopher, author, and Associate Professor of Physiology at ESIC-PGIMSR and ESI Medical College, Joka, Kolkata. Renowned for his pioneering work in moral philosophy and peace advocacy, he has authored several influential books that explore the intersections of science, ethics, and spirituality.
He introduced a mathematical model of intrinsic morality in his book Morality Beyond Human Brain: Scientific and Philosophical Exploration and proposed that morality is inherent in all living cells, crucial to existence and evolution. His works argue that human virtues like compassion, forgiveness, and nonviolence form the pillars of world peace.
Early Life and Education
Born in Agartala, Tripura, Baidya completed his MBBS and MD at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal. He pursued a Post MD–PhD under an ICMR Fellowship from King George's Medical University, Lucknow. A lifelong learner, he holds certifications from global institutions including Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and the University of Toronto.
